This week in science we set up our notebooks for our DYO.we also learned to set up our data table and we gathered back ground information on our fruit flies. The most fun part i heard about they did was putting the fruit flies into the tube sadly i wasn't her but i heard it was very fun. . My group and I are using Two Females and One Male. We created a chart to observe the number of fruit flies during three weeks. We also came up with our hypothesis that if their are 2 females and 1 males by the end of 3 weeks we should have 840 fruit flies just because fruit flies lay up to 20 eggs a day so, if we have 2 females that leaves us with 40 a day

this week in science no impact man
No impact mans project was to live a year without electricity, transportation, tv, refrigerator, no washing machine, no ac and all that other stuff. so it was basically him trying to make the least amount of impact to the world. people and including myself think hes crazy, but he dont care. he still got to do what he wanted. He bought local food so the food wont be transported from place to place, he would ride a bike to get to places in stead of using a car or train, he used a cloth diaper instead of a real diaper, he used candles for light instead of wasting electricity, and washed clothes by hand. I think that his behavior lowered his negative impact on the environment because even though he knew it was a hard thing to do he always had a good attitude about it. I thought that he was not going to be able to do this for a year, but he actually did it, because he had hope ! My reactions and feelings while watching this was that this guy was out of his mind. the guy got rid of electricity for a year, i cant ever do that. this guy is brave and smart though, atleast he tried helping the environment

This week in science: Energy Transfer
This week in science we learned about how energy from one animal transfers into another animal. this transfer is caused by consumption. i Also learned about the energy pyramid. I also learned the names of the types of animals needed to consume. Like some animals are producers. a Producer makes its own food if im not mistaken. A consumer is an animal that eats other animals for food. Also theres secondary and tertiary consumers.
This Week in Science (Fruit Flies Part 1)
This weekend we learned about fruit flies. We learned that fruit flies or male fruit flies have a black bottom
and the females have a light bottom. We also learned that the fruit flies make 20 baby's a day. they dont need to wait a day. They can lay eggs everyday. Also fruit flies takes 14 days to hatch out the eggs.

This week in science
This week in science we put friut flies to sleep so that we can put them in a seperate vile. And we also ansered the fruit fly problem. It was basicly saying or asking, how many fruit flies would be in the tank if you started with 3. one male and 2 females. Remmeber the flies reperduce 20 eggs each in a day.
So the question was asking after 3weeks how many would there be?
We didnt finish but when we do i guess ill get back to this assignment. I think there would be an awfuly big amount of flies though because there are 2 flies that can lay eggs and repurduce. they will be producing atleast 40 eggs a day.

This week in science
This week in science we, played a card game that you had to match the animal with its habitat and its role.
This is the picture of the finished card game, Bianca and my hands.
This week i learned, about carrying capacity's. A carrying capacity is the number of organisms any enviorment can support. We also learned about Living factors. Living Factors are the available amount of energy (food), water, Oxygen and minerals and the ability of ecosystem to recycle the remains of dead organisms. So what it's saying is the ability for an organism to live in its endowment. For example a monkey eats bananas so for that monkey to live were it lives it will need to find a place that grows bananas. We also Played a Game. The Game was called Oh Deer! the way you play is pick three deers
and everyone else are the resources and the deer have to run to get the resources or they will die.
In conclusion this week was fun. Bye

This week in science: Energy Transfer
This week in science we learned about Food chains. a food chain shows the transfer of energy from one organism to another. a food chain also shows animals from dominent to small and defenseless. the top would most likely be the dominent and the bottom will be the defenseless. We also Drew a energy chain or chart. A energy pyramid shows the amount of energy in each trophic level of an organism. Which basicly means it shows the energy giving off by one organism and going into another organism using arrows.
This week in science i learned about my fantasy animal and were its at in the food chain in its biome.
My animal is a herbivore. Which means it only eats producers. A producer is an organism that makes its own food. I also learned what a energy pyramid is. Also i learned how a food chain works like i knew what it was but i really didn't know how it worked. As far as the arrows and the animals go. Like how the animals are lined up in which they get eaten or eat. Also how the arrows point and what they symbolize. I learned that any animal that eats another living organism is called a carnivore.
i Learned what a primary consumer is and a secondary consumer. At that point i guessed what a tertiary consumer was and i was right. a primary consumer is any organism that gets its energy fron producers.
A secondary consumer is an organism that gets its energy from consumers. And a tertiary consumer is an organism that gets its energy from secondary consumers.

This is the finished energy pyramid. Not my best but i finished.I put this up because i wanted to show the finished copy.

This week in science energy transfer
This week in science we learned how to identify roles that organism's play in the food chain. Such as consumers , primary consumers, secondary consumer, tortiary consumers. There are also herbivore's, carniovres. They all have there own roles. some roles include only eating plants some include making your own food. some include eating other organisms. some just eat plants and there role are getting eaten by other animals to give off energy.

My fantasy habitat
This week in science we picked a animal off Frbloggin.blogspot.com and we researched about it. I picked a chipmunk because they look like squirrels and i wanted to know the difference they have alot of diffrences people do not really know . Starting with Squirrels comes in a variety of colors or come in many colors like brown, grey even red. There are even Rare Albino Squirrels but Squirrels have bushy tails tails thats the most distinctive characteristic or makes them different the most. Also my animal (chipmunk) eats acorn nuts they stuff them into their cheeks to save for hibernation. Chipmunks need to hibernate for the winter. i Also learned instead of storing Fat they dip into the gathered nuts they gather during the hot weather and eat em then.
I liked learning about this because it taught me some interesting facts about chipmunks and squirrels. starting with the defining characteristics. Then Learning about the chipmunks cheeks stretch so they can put a lot of nuts in it.

Lesson 5 This week in science
First Impression
I thought i was going to like disecting frogs because i always wanted to and i always used to ask why we never disected frogs in scince but now that we disected them i dont want to disect anything else because it stinks.
In this photo Bianca was cutting the frod open from the bottom with a scissor .I chose this picture because the skin looks real cool and wrinkly
n this picturethe frogs skin and inner skin was cut open. I chose this In this picture

this picture shows the inside of the frog (Ernie) .I chose this picture because melody and Bianca just cut it open and itwas the first time i seen inside of a frog which was disgusting. |
This is the organs of my frog Ernie. I chose this picture because it looks nasty and i thought it would be a nice seen for people to see .
